Thanksgiving Kids!
I had a great session last night at the studio. I thought I’d post a few images that show just how we do what we do!

That’s right, bribes! Ha. Here’s a slideshow.

Here are some images from a family session I shot a few weekends back. What great kids! They have a special story, but I’ll let the images tell some of that.

I had a chance to work on a few other images. Here are a few from the series. This is fun!.jpg)

I’ve been working on a series about little girls with flowers. Pretty straight forward. They are about how the little ones respond to each flower without getting involved from the photography end. It’s quite challenging to react and capture each image without tainting the moment. I hope I at least got these two right! I’ll update as I go. I have more that I’m working on and other images in the archives waiting for print.

Here’s one of the two sisters from this session without flowers.
I thought I would post a few Indigo images from this week’s sessions.
This first one is proof that hockey players do occassionally leave their gloves ON.
This one pretty much explains itelf!

Sometimes we even just shoot a simple black and white at Indigo!

Here’s one more from a wedding I shot second shooter for on Saturday. It’s fun staying out of the way and riding shotgun!
I have a whole bunch of images to post here and only SO much time! Today we had a little fun at the studio with Ellie. You’ll get the idea of the shoot. My Wife had the great concept of dragging the little one and dog out to the studio to play dress us. Probably not on the top of my list of Sunday activities! It was fun and we got out relatively unscathed. I’ve included a “gag” real to this of the out-takes just to prove that photographer’s kids don’t really behave for the camera either. Well, their dogs either. . . Enjoy! Here’s the final image we came up with:

Here’s the out-takes (probably more fun!):
Well, I just finished 2 workshops in 3 days. On Saturday I gave a talk on workflow and color management at Calumet Photographic downtown. That was a lot of fun and it was really intriguing to hear people’s comments and see where they are coming from. It’s always great to get out and meet new people. Yesterday we hosted a workshop at the studio about self-assignments and self-discovery. This is something I’ve never given a program about and that’s alway enough to get a little frazzled. I never know how things are going to go over and pacing is another thing. I was really pleased with the response and it was a hoot to see a group of great photographers roaming the streets of Batavia shooting “random” objects! I’m sure the neighbors will be over today trying to figure out what the heck that was all about!
Thank you to all that participated. It’s hard to give a workshop without people to give it to. I also appreciate the opportunity to stretch and take chances outside of the normal talks. It is a personal goal and a goal of the studio to never get stagnant. That’s probably the hardest part of the gig at all levels.
Here’s one from yesterday.

I have finally taken a bit of time to work on some of the New England images. This was photographed in Rhode Island at sunrise. We had to get permission to visit this site and it was so worth it. The image is completely from the original capture. There have been some obvious enhancements, but I swear it’s the original sky! I get asked that a lot about my images! I’d tell the truth if I cheated on this one, but it’s all original. This image is also a composite of 5 exposures taken in direct succession. For non-photographers this is called bracketing. It allows us to create a very wide dynamic range in post-production. Similar techniques are used with film. This one will be available for purchase when I’m finished with it. Stay tuned. I’m working on making more pieces available. Contact the studio for information.
We took Ellie out today for trick or treating. She had a blast! There are lots of crazy people in our neighborhood that make Halloween a sporting event. Naturally, it’s a hoot! Ha. I guess we can put up with a Princess once a year. . . . Franklin made a cameo in here as well. Enjoy!
